Learning how to "hook" the ball.....kind of

    Friday, February 2, 2007, 01:00 AM [General]

So for the past month, I have been bowling with my Brunswick BVP Rampage down the second arrow and then slowly getting it to the pocket and have been achieving some kind of success averaging in the 180's. However, for the longest time I've been wondering how to actually hook it instead of throwing it so straight. I was fortunate it enough to get a few pointers from a fellow bowler who I met a couple weeks ago who can hook it from left to right with ease. His pin action is just crazy and he's only 18!!! So now, my body hurts and I still can't consistently do that damn hook. I kind of have the idea of how to do it, but it just doesn't happen for me. I just wish I can get that kind of side rotation that I see other bowlers doing. We'll see how it goes next session. If any of you can help me out that would be great. Why does it have to be so hard? :(

So far these are the things I'm focusing on (I might be wrong on these...please let me know!)

    1. Cup my wrist a little bit

    2. Tuck my pinky in

    3. Focus on my target

    4. Go really slow to get the feeling of it
