What kind of bowling ball should I get? I had my first lesson today and discovered that my Brunswick BVP Rampage that I've been using for the past month and a half is actually drilled wrong!!! According to my coach, the person who drilled my ball got the pitch wrong or whatever (I don't even know what that means). But it is causing my thumb to get caught on my release causing me to "throw" it down the lane. So, looks like I'm back to square one. Geez, I'm going to go to a different place an hour away to get it drilled so hopefully they'll get it right this time. :(
So for the past month, I have been bowling with my Brunswick BVP Rampage down the second arrow and then slowly getting it to the pocket and have been achieving some kind of success averaging in the 180's. However, for the longest time I've been wondering how to actually hook it instead of throwing it so straight. I was fortunate it enough to get a few pointers from a fellow bowler who I met a couple weeks ago who can hook it from left to right with ease. His pin action is just crazy and he's only 18!!! So now, my body hurts and I still can't consistently do that damn hook. I kind of have the idea of how to do it, but it just doesn't happen for me. I just wish I can get that kind of side rotation that I see other bowlers doing. We'll see how it goes next session. If any of you can help me out that would be great. Why does it have to be so hard? :(
So far these are the things I'm focusing on (I might be wrong on these...please let me know!)
So yesterday, my buddy and I decided to go this after school bowling league and this guy was giving free lessons as well. He gave us some very helpful tips but the two I'll probably keep in my mind for a while is how to bowl straighter with my strike ball (for spares, because I don't have a spare ball) and second, slowing down my footwork. Apparently my first two steps were slow but once I did my last few steps I was stepping too quickly. After listening to what he suggested I greatly improved my accuracy. I guess I have a few extra milliseconds to focus on the task at hand. So i guess the moral of the story is: SLOW THE FEET!
I never knew this place existed until I stumbled across it on the internet. Anywho, I just started bowling this beginning January and I think I have been hit with bowling fever! Every show that airs on the weekend I try to catch and currently trying to work on my game. Hopefully this place will be filled with knowledge to help myself improve...so we'll see where this goes! Currently, I'm using a Brunswick BVP Rampage and it's going well. Don't think I'm getting enough revolutions on it though. Or maybe it's my ball? Most likely me but yeah, I definitely have a lot to improve on in my game. Tomorrow I'm going again so we'll see how I do. Thanks for visiting my page!
